CI/CD Health Check: make pipelines dependable

Pipelines slow or undermine releases, but the source of the blockage is unclear.

Audit a representative selection of delivery pipelines and decide which fix or pilot merits implementation.

Services

When to engage?

A build waits without a clear cause

Compare selected runs to distinguish runner queues, compilation, tests and approvals.

A production release remains manual

Follow the artifact, approvals and delivered service through a verifiable application journey.

Controls vary between repositories

Identify shareable steps and exceptions before recommending a separate Factory pilot if appropriate.

A three-step engagement

  1. 01

    Select runs

I agree the repositories, period, targets and owners with your teams so equivalent releases can be compared.

  2. 02

    Follow the release

I break down waiting, building and approvals; I verify which artifact reaches the target and whether the service responds.

  3. 03

    Hand over options

I report gaps, risks and, where relevant, criteria for a separately commissioned pilot.

What you receive

  • Selected run inventorySample, period, duration by stage and available-log limitations.
  • Control gaps by delivery flowPromoted artifacts, permissions, controls and post-release service behavior, with decision owners.
  • CI/CD pilot dossierCandidate repository, measurement assumptions, controls to preserve and expansion conditions; no template is deployed implicitly.

Scope and prerequisites

Scope and prerequisites. Selected GitLab, Jenkins or Azure DevOps repositories and run history, deployment targets and quality and security contacts. Read redacted configurations without secrets or initial administrator access.

Outside the audit. No pipeline rewrite, runner relocation or delivered framework; those belong to a separate CI/CD Factory pilot.
