DevOps and platform engineering

Industrialize delivery without passing pipeline and access complexity on to product teams.

A useful internal platform provides a delivery path teams can understand, version and operate. This expertise covers technical and organizational choices; a pipeline audit or pilot implementation is described under separate services.

Expertise

YOUR CONTEXT

When this expertise matters

Copied pipelines drift apart

Builds, permissions and controls differ between repositories. A security fix must then be copied everywhere, while an unversioned central change can block several teams. The shared contract needs gradual adoption and visible exceptions.

Infrastructure reproducible only on paper

A Terraform plan may not expose manual changes, poorly isolated state or secrets available to untrusted contributions. Modules, state ownership, plan review and drift detection become platform decisions, not just repository conventions.

A green deployment with an unavailable app

A successful pipeline does not guarantee pod networking, namespace quotas, volumes or application health. Delivery must connect the promoted artifact to probes, alerts and operating ownership after release.

THREE PILLARS

Capabilities brought to bear

Reusable CI/CD and pipeline frameworks

Build versioned shared components for Jenkins/Groovy, GitLab CI/CD or Azure DevOps with explicit parameters and common controls. Compare GitHub Actions with the existing estate rather than making tool migration an end in itself. Give teams a documented exception path.

Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm and GitOps

Define Terraform modules, state and identities around ownership; standardize Helm charts and resource limits on AKS, GKE or private platforms. GitOps can keep repository and cluster aligned where useful, but does not replace manifest validation, secret handling or rollback.

Internal Developer Platforms and self-service

A portal can delegate routine operations without full administrator access. Autoscaled runners, caches and base images follow demand while isolating untrusted builds. A capability catalog, permissions and support make the standard path usable.

TECHNICAL DECISIONS

Trade-offs that shape the solution

Share logic without freezing teams

Versioning templates and their configuration contract prevents one central change from breaking every repository. The right level of standardization depends on maintenance cost, shared controls and actual application variants.

Separate build, promotion and application

External contributions must not reach production secrets. Short-lived identities and isolated runners protect builds; separate approval authorizes promotion. With GitOps, specify which system owns applied state and how to revert it.

Self-service or global privileges?

Delegate operations by role, with audit trails and boundaries, instead of handing out administrator access. The founder’s experience with CI/CD frameworks and internal portals informs these choices without treating past figures as a promise.
